Tip: Useful Firefox 3 Tweaks
by jusuchin85

Judging by the site stats, I see many visitors to this site uses Mozilla Firefox, especially Firefox 3.0. The reason for Firefox being so popular is the ability to add extensions, themes and modify your browser to be just the way you want it to be.
One of the ways to make Firefox even better is to play around with the about-config directory. Whatever you want to customise (from specific theme settings to complicated network configurations) can be done on this very page. But in the end, not many people are brave enough to try this ^^;
The people at Lifehacker came up with an article for some tweaks and configs to make your Internet browsing experience an enjoyable one.
Lifehacker: Useful Firefox 3.0 Tweaks
For extensions, I’m only using a few right now:
What is/are your favourite extensions for Firefox?

What’s up? Well, I’ve grabbed 6 Add-ons since the FF3 launch, but only keep 3 of them enabled: (1) Download Statusbar (instead of the annoying popup), (2) isoHunt Toolbar (to search torrents without leaving the page), and (3) Screen Grab! (I think Danny recommended this one)… As for themes, I still love the slick black “Aero Fox” I’ve used since FF2. Plus it matches my blog look too, lol. >_<

Maybe I should use Firefox3 more, I’m using Lolifox. *Shrug*

Yeah FF3 rocks, I have been on the FF3 train since the first beta.
It’s the fastest and most customizable browser I know.
I’m using:
Colorful Tabs (useful if you have always lots of open Tabs like me)
DownloadHelper (grabs mediafiles from websites)
Feed Sidebar (RSS feeds in a sidebar)
Fission (Safari like loading bar, not really essential^^)
Foxmarks …
IE-Tab (if a websites requires IE)
SnapLinks (to grab download links by drawing a field over the links and copy them, for example to the clipboard)
(GoggleEarth and Google GearsPlugin)
and Classic Compact Theme

@hikky: Hey thx for the “IE-Tab” suggestion! Awesome, don’t have to flip between FF and IE anymore! Especially if the office uses IE apps. ^_^

thanks for the cookies. finally. *eats them*
@ hikky, thanks for recommending the IE-tab. sometimes my firefox hangs when loading non-firefox compatible websites and all my other tabs hangs with it. >_<

@ xJAYMANx: I totally forgot about Download Statusbar! I used that a lot in FF2, thanks for reminding… Ah, no wonder your blog’s theme seem familiar. Damn, and I thought it was some random color scheme which I saw elsewhere…and that was it! ^^;
@ Persocom: Lolifox? Just googled it, and it looks plain and simple. Just like Firefox, just themed to be almost anime-like. I like the bookmarks, where it features anime-related links and sites. Nice, thanks for sharing!
@ hikky: I will try out IE Tab, since I’m web-developing and all. Should prove to be useful! I’m also looking at the Feed Sidebar extension, since I have many RSS to handle. Should prove to be useful. Thanks for the heads up!
@ gordon: Don’t choke on the cookies, gordon! ^^;
@ Panther: So…general…care to share some? O.o”

@J85: Haha, I can’t take all the credit; the shiny black theme isn’t new. I think I first got the idea when I saw the Windows Media Player’s updated black interface for the first time. Looked so cool! Then maybe a year after I designed my blog/site, that’s when I found the black Aero Fox theme for FF2. Maybe Aero Fox got their look from the Windows Media Player also? LOL, either way, I still like it, no complaints!

@ xJAYMANx: Yeah man. But hard to say whether the designer followed WMP11 or his own discretion of a design. Either way, it looks nice!
August 27th, 2008 at 6:55 am
@J85: Agreed. But I did some checking anyway, lol… WMP 11 came out in Oct 2006, shortly before Vista came out in Nov 2006. And guess what? The default GUI theme for Vista was Windows “Aero”. Based on WMP 11, my latest blog-site was designed March-July 2007. After that, Aero Fox appeared in Nov 2007, according to this link. So definitely looks like “Aero” Fox is based on the WMP 11 and Vista “Aero” theme, after all! >_<

COOKIES!
Personally, other than the ones mentioned above, I love Downthemall, since I’m able to mass save images from imageboards like 4chan.

Love using FEBE. Very useful for backing up your extensions, bookmarks, preferences and etc. Since I format my PC now and then, I find FEBE useful. =D

@ xJAYMANx: Nice history lesson! So, your blog is based on WMP11, and Aerofox is based on it as well! Hence the name…but I can see that you prefer dark themes the most! ^^;
@ Shin: Cool! That has to be one of the best extensions for Firefox thus far.
@ chaospetrifier: Yep, FEBE is good as well. I remembered that I used them for backing up bookmarks, but since I’m using Foxmarks I never used FEBE anymore. Some settings are just minimal, so I still remember what I adjusted. Nonetheless, it’s a worthy extension!

Just found “TwitterFox”, although I’m using the MSN-PingFm Bot for new Twitters/Plurks its quiet useful to take a look at new Twitters and for replies.
